This past week we announced that Indeed.com job postings and trends are now included in workstreamer. As we were integrating and pulling jobs data we ran across a couple of really interesting findings I thought were worth sharing.
- Fortune 100 have posted over 91K jobs in the last 30 days (115k in the last 60 days)
- Fortune 500 have posted over 226K jobs in the last 30 days (330k in the last 60 days)
- All companies being followed in workstreamer have a total of 668K jobs posted in the last 30 days (739k in the last 60 days)
- 47% of companies being followed in workstreamer have posted a job opening in the last 30 days
Here are a few other interesting job trends from Indeed.com
- Washington DC has the most job postings per 1000 people (174), San Jose came in 2nd with 124 postings per 1000 people and Austin came in 11th with 55 postings for every 1000 people
- Washington DC, San Jose, Baltimore, and NYC all have a job postings vs. unemployed person ratio of 1:1
- Employment Trends by Industry for May 2010 show there to be 671,710 healthcare job postings, 354,067 Retail openings and 295,366 jobs in Information Technology
All of this makes one scratch their head. With so many job openings, why is the unemployment rate still high? Do we have a mismatch of skills sets? Are these new positions and are these refilling laid off positions from 2009? We’re not sure but these numbers sure are powerful.
See who’s in growth mode and what kinds of roles they are hiring in workstreamer.
